Research Activities

The research topics proposed by PE # 10 that are interesting for Barilla essentially impact on three areas, in which Barilla has been investing for years with basic and applied research activities, to create knowledge useful for the enhancement of current product proposals and for the future new business opportunities.

The Research and Development Centre

Barilla has a Research and Development Centre, in Italy, in Parma, where 170 researchers and technicians work dedicated both to basic research on Agronomy, Nutrition, Quality and Safety of products, and to Product Development, from the pilot phase to that industrial. The centre has chemical-physical laboratories, microbiologists, and sensory analysis laboratories with 20 trained external panelists and 9000 square meters of pilot plants where machines and systems are available for the realization of prototypes also with innovative technologies and mechanical-plant solutions developed internally.
